Aero
Effect: Air-elemental attack.

Aera
Effect: More powerful Air-elemental Attack

Aeroga
Effect: Superme Air-elemental Attacl

Aeroja
Effect: The Greatest Air-elemental Attack

Arise/Life/Revive
Effect: Revive ally with full HP

Blink
Effect: Raise evade % of target, or cause attacks to completely miss.

Confuse/Charm/Delirium
Effect: Cause Confusion status

Cure
Effect: Small HP gain

Cura
Effect: Medium HP gain

Curaga
Effect: Large HP gain

Curaja
Effect: Huge HP gain

Dispel
Effect: Erases all magical effects from target

Esuna
Effect: Cure all status ailments

Float/Levitation
Effect: Causes target to Float.

Full Cure
Effect: Cures all HP for one target or a very large amount of HP for multiple targets; in 12 cures all HP for all targets.

Haste
Effect: Raise target's speed

Hastega
Effect: Raises targets' speed

Holy
Effect: Strong Holy-elemental attack.

Holyra
Effect: Next-level Holy-elemental attack.

Libra/Scan/Analyze/Study
Effect: Sees enemy HP/MP, sometimes also weaknesses and other info

Mini
Effect: Turn target to/from Midget status

Poisona/Panacea
Effect: Cures Poison (and Venom).

Protect/Shield/Safe/Barrier
Effect: Raises physical defense

Pray
Effect: Heals a small amount of HP to the whole party.

Raise
Effect: Revive ally with minimal HP

Reflect/NulAll
Effect: Causes spells to bounce back from target

Regen
Effect: Causes HP to slowly regenerate

Reraise/Auto-Life
Effect: Character comes back to life when killed.

Revive
Effect: Revive from KO with about half (or more) HP.

Shell
Effect: Raises magic defense

Sight (3/4 WM)
Effect: See more of the world map

Silence/Mute/Quiesence
Effect: Stops target from casting spells

Sleep/Repose
Effect: Puts target to sleep

Slow
Effect: Lowers enemy's speed

Slowga
Effect: Lowers enemies' speed

Stona
Effect: Heals Stone status

Teleport
Effect: Warps party out of a dungeon.

Toad
Effect: Turn target to/from Frog status

Tornado
Effect: Air-elemental attack which leaves targets with single-digit HPs

Wall/Barrier
Effect: Raises physical and magical defense

White Wind
Effect: Heals entire party of HP based on caster's current or maximum HP. In 12 it stops status effects from affecting an enemy.

Black Magic

Effect: HP and max HP-related damage.

Berserk
Effect: Causes Berserk status. In X-2 can only be used on self.

Bio
Effect: Strong attack, adds Poison status

Black Shock/Flash/Dischord
Effect: Lowers enemy's level by half.

Blind/Umbra
Effect: Causes Blind status

Blizzaga
Effect: Strong ice-elemental attack. In CC, can cause Frozen status.

Blizzara
Effect: Medium ice-elemental attack. In CC, can cause Frozen status.

Blizzard
Effect: Weak ice-elemental attack. In CC, can cause Frozen status.

Break
Effect: Causes Petrify or Stone status. In 7 this also deals Earth damage. In 11, does not petrify, only deals Earth damage.

Comet
Effect: Non-elemental attack. See "Meteor".

Confuse
Effect: Cause Confusion status

Death
Effect: Instantly kills enemy, heals undead fully

Demi
Effect: Target(s) lose(s) 1/8% of HP

Drain
Effect: Drain HP from target to caster

Fira
Effect: Medium fire-elemental attack. In CC, can cause Burn status effect.

Firaga
Effect: Strong fire-elemental attack. In CC,can cause Burn status effect.

Fire
Effect: Weak fire-elemental attack. In CC, can cause Burn status effect.

Flare/Nuke
Effect: Ultimate fire-elemental attack (in 8, it's fire/ice/bolt-elemental and in 10 it's non-elemental).

Focus
Effect: Raises magic power.

Graviga
Effect: Target(s) lose(s) 1/2% of HP

Gravija
Effect: Target(s) lose(s) 3/4% of HP

Gravity
Effect: Target loses 1/4% of HP.

Chaotic Flare
AKA: Level 4 Flare (6 BL), LV? S-Flare (TA BL)
Effect: All enemies at a level divisible by 3 (or 4) are hit with a Flare spell.

Reaper's Parade
Effect: All enemies at a level divisible by 5 are instantly killed.

Meteor/Protometeor
Effect: Multi-hit non-elemental attack on all enemies. See "Comet".

Osmose
Effect: Drains MP from target to caster

Poison
Effect: Poisons enemy plus (usually) loss of HP

Quake/Tremor/ Earth Shaker/ Earthquake
Effect: Strong earth-elemental attack on all enemies

Silence
Effect: Stops target from casting spells

Sleep
Effect: Puts target to sleep

Thundaga
Effect: Strong lightning-elemental attack. In CC, can cause Paralyzed status.

Thundara
Effect: Medium lightning-elemental attack. In CC, can cause Paralyzed status.

Thunder
Effect: Weak lightning-elemental attack. In CC can cause Paralyzed status.

Tornado
Effect: Air-elemental attack which leaves targets with single-digit HPs

Ultima
Effect: Ultimate non-elemental attack on all enemies.

Vanish
Effect: Makes a character disappear. 12 also has Vanishga, which affects the whole party.

Warp/Remove
Effect: Warps one or more floors towards the exit of a dungeon. This warps the *enemies* out of the battle.

Water
Effect: Weak water attack.

Watera
Effect: Medium Water attack

Wateraga
Effect: Strong Water attack

X-Zone
Effect: Instantly kills one or more enemies

Zombie
Effect: Causes target to become Undead
